The construction engineer has described the house as a structurally sound building. The structure is being replaced with the redevelopment known as The City Lights Project. The City Lights Project consists of a 27-unit apartment building with ground-level commercial space.
EIV Technical Services has offered to cover $5000 of the total cost of relocating the house. One rough estimate for the cost to move the structure is around $50,000 to $60,000. The house must be moved by mid-June with the moving dates between June 1st and June 15th. Nearby the current location, there is land for sale at the corner of River St and Champlain Pl. According to the City of Winooski, exterior rehabilitation must conform to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. However, adaptive reuse is allowed on the interior. Furthermore, any company contracted to move the building will also has to comply with the all applicable EPA standards for removal of hazardous material, including lead paint and asbestos.
