Four of five houses in Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando are available for free to move to new lots. These houses were built from the years of 1915 to 1925. Three of them are located along East Washington Street, with one house on Eola Drive. The Trust for Public Land bought the property in 2009 to avert the construction of a proposed office tower. The city of Orlando bought the property from the Trust in August for 8.5 million under an exclusive option.

Near 7th and Garland in City West is a free house. It has four bedrooms and one bathroom. The new owner must either remove the house from the property or demolish the building and salvage the materials.

Detroit, Michigan House

The City of Detroit is offering cash towards housing to police officers, employees of certain businesses, income-qualified individuals, and even existing homeowners and renters as an incentive to relocate to or stay in the city. "Project 14" offers incentives to police officers and other qualified individuals. It provides $150,000 in housing renovation money and requires only $1,000 down for officers moving back to the city.

The Killingsworth House, a ca. 1890 cottage that is one of the few remaining buildings from Beaufort’s earliest suburbs, is available free for relocating to another site.

Mansion By the Bay

A 1905 Queen Anne-style downtown building, former residence of one of St. Pete’s first mayors, Albert Blocker, and the recent location of the Russian-inspired restaurant Yummy Mama’s is available for free to someone who can move it to another site. A. T. “Bert” Blocker was councilman in 1904-05 and then Mayor in 1910-11. The building has been known by several names, including “The Mansion By the Bay,” the “Blocker Mansion”, and the “Blocker Residence.”
