The lot was $50, now the home is $1. Back in 1885, the lot this building sits on was sold for a mere $50. Located at 106 N. Pacific St., it is known as the Rorick/Reid house.

David Rorick built the house in 1907. Robert S. Reid, a renowned Oceanside doctor, leased the property from Rorick until purchasing it in 1912. The home is eligible for the California Register of Historic Resources.

The buyer will have to post a bond or prove financial capability for the removal of the Rorick/Reid home. If not moved by the first of April 2008, the house will be demolished to make way for a Westin Hotel. There are also two other structures on Pacific Street that will be in line for demolition. The developer, Malkin Properties, will utilize a fourth building (called Top Gun House or Graves House) from this same area as part of the new downtown development near the Oceanside Municipal Pier.
