Arts-and-Crafts Bungalow

One of the first brick homes in Taylor, Michigan is available for one dollar.

Although it is not currently part of a historical registry, it is one of the city's oldest homes. This 1926 building is 2,110 square feet with two stories and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is an Arts-and-Crafts house, representing classic early 20th century architecture. It is part of the federally funded Neighborhood Stabilization Program. When the house went into foreclosure last year, the city bought the house for $76,415.

The interior of the building will need some repairs. The city wants to make the land that the house sits on the southern border of the Heritage Park. The city does not have the funds to move the building into Heritage Park’s historic village. If the building is not bought by someone, it will be demolished in the spring. The building is currently located at 21528 Northline Road in a Detroit suburb around 15 miles southwest of Detroit. The buyer must move the house by May 31, 2010. Officials estimate that moving costs will be at least $20,000.
