Order this Wellington Model 1920s Sears Kit straight from 1926 and place it on your own site. This house was originally sold in a 1926 catalog through the mail order, Modern Homes program. In fact, between 1908 and 1940, Sears Roebuck & Co. sold more than 70,000 of these mail order kits in more than 400 styles.

The homes were popular during the time Arlington County was a working class community and homes were quite easy to ship to the building lots using a nearby rail line. Arlington County has about 100 to 200 kit houses left, but they are becoming increasingly rare. Packages were quite detailed and included items like lights, kitchen cabinets, and optional garages. The bungalow on the site now includes an original fireplace, a living room, dining room, two bedrooms, and a kitchen.

The last owners bought the house and plot in September 2013 for $750,000. This was quite an increase from the lot’s original price of $1,998. The house is located at 3010 7th St. N. (near Pershing Drive in Lyon Park).

Paola Lugli and Paola Amodeo owners from the firm Paolasquare International are the architects of the current owners. The architects are based in Arlington, but have roots in Italy. They suggested to the owners to try finding a new owner for relocation of the building. The architects estimate that the move will be around $30,000, not including the foundation and other work at the new site. The house utilities would also need to be disconnected and capped off by a contractor. The house would then be moved without the foundation and two porches.
