Buckhead Mansion & Nearby Condos

Thomas Jefferson’s great great grandson, Hollins Randolph, lived in this mansion that was built for him in 1924. The mansion is located on Peachtree Road next to the condos at 2500 Peachtree. It is free to move anywhere in Atlanta as long as the house has enough space to pass on access roads.

Hercules House Movers handled a prior move fourteen years ago for the condo developer. The house was moved 40 feet.  There was also an agreement between the developer, the condo association, neighborhood groups, and preservationists to preserve and maintain the house. Despite this, since the condo association has attempted to obtain a demolition permit for the house since 2006 because the agreement could not be enforced with zoning legislation changes.

If the condo association obtains a permit, the house would be demolished after 120 days unless a new owner can move it to another lot, build a new foundation, and complete upgrades to the building. The new owner has the option of using the building for public or private use.  The move is estimated at $350,000 to move this one million pound house.
