You could be eligible to be the new keeper of the East Brother Light Station with a salary of around $130,000 and included housing. The lighthouse operates as a five-room inn. The successful applicants would have tasks ranging from chef to maid. Some of these tasks include serving breakfast and dinner, as well as ferrying guests to the island. The inn is open four days a week. The island is also available for day use and special events.
The island is owned by the Coast Guard, but operated by the non-profit organization, East Brother Lighthouse, Inc. The lighthouse is located on a small island just north of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. The island is on the state and federal lists of historic places. East Brother Lighthouse, Inc. is searching for a couple to fill the position. The requirements of the position state that the couple must be non-smokers and one member of the couple must have an active Coast Guard Captain’s commercial license. After selection and two weeks of training, the new keepers start date is set for mid-April 2019.
