If you can move this Federal-Greek Revival style house, you can own the building. The house is a limestone structure built in 1850. It is currently located near Cooksville in northwestern Rock County. This is the same site where the “Bonnie’s Best” Historic Cooksville Apple was found in the mid-20th century. The tree was noted as being an old and rare apple heritage tree.
This was the home of Harrison Stebbins in the 19th century. Stebbins was a prominent Porter Township resident. The current owner is working tiwth the non-profit charity, Historic Cooksville Trust, Inc. to coordinate the house relocation.
