The Tudor-style 8500 sq. ft. mansion at 200 Central Avenue SE is free — but the new owner must cover moving costs.

The mansion built in 1929 was once the St. Anthony Commercial Club and most recently housed the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel. Because of the large size of the building and the amount of traffic in the area, one estimate for the move is $1.5 million.

After being on the market for approximately two years, Alatus, a developer based in the Twin Cities, purchased the mansion and the property. The developer has plans to build a 40-story condo tower on the quarter-block site. Since the mansion is part of the St. Anthony Falls Historic District, Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission issued an edict temporarily restricting the demolition of the building for three months.
