Ocala’s first historic district was the setting for the 1903 construction of this Victorian house by a businessman named William Camp. It is located at 910 SE Fifth St in the Ocala Historic District. The current owner of the William Nelson Camp House is offering the house free to anyone who can move the building to another location. The house is in need of repairs.

Ocala Historic Preservation Advisory Board (OHPAB), a board comprised of citizens that make suggestions to the City Council about historic properties, had denied the owner’s request to demolish the building in 2012. The denial remained in effect for one year. In 1985, another building on a nearby street, the Bullock House was sliced into two pieces and moved eight blocks from 611 SE Third St. to Southeast Osceola and Southeast Eighth Street.
